A Business Call Gone Wrong

Last Monday, Mr. Li had to be called away on business to Shanghai, so he asked his assistant, Wang Jie, to handle an important client call.

Wang Jie tried to ring up the client at 9 a.m., but she couldn't get through because the line was busy.

She decided to make a phone call to the office manager instead.

When the manager finally picked up, he told her that the client had called earlier and asked for a call back.

Suddenly, the call got cut off, and Wang Jie had to ring up again.

This time, she reached the client, but the client was angry and said, “If you hang up on me again, I will call something off!” Wang Jie apologized and promised to call somebody over to fix the phone.

She also had to call out a technician to check the line.

Later, the client asked Wang Jie to call for somebody to pick him up at the airport.

Wang Jie sighed and thought, “Next time, I’ll check the phone before I call!”
