A Crazy Day at the Fun Run

Last Saturday, our school held a charity fun run, and feelings ran high as everyone prepared.

I planned to beat the rush by arriving early, but my little brother decided to wander off, so I had to run around looking for him.

When I finally found him, he was crawling under a bench, pretending to be a spy.

Then I ran across my friend Emma, who was trying to sprint to the starting line.

She told me her family’s love for running really does run in the family.

Just as the race began, I ran up against a problem—my shoelace came undone!

While I stopped to tie it, some kids rushed past me, and one nearly ran me down.

I started to run round in circles, feeling like I was wasting time.

My mom, who was watching, warned me not to run myself into the ground.

I decided to stride calmly and enjoy the rest of the race.

At the finish line, I didn’t win, but I felt proud I didn’t let things run wild.

Later, I saw a little boy creep slowly toward the water station, and I smiled.

After the event, I ran through details of the day with my friends, laughing about all the chaos.

I was tired but happy—I never ran out of patience, even when things got tricky.
